Bourne + Weir – Year in Review

2018 has been yet another big year for the team at Bourne + Weir and now here we are at the tail end of it.

The Bourne + Weir team has been as busy as ever welcoming both new clients and new staff to the firm.  We’ve had a few staff changes, quite a few in the firm have been off travelling the world and we have also had an exciting more addition (more on that later.)

2018 saw the re-vamp of our Superannuation team with Adrian Leung and Lisa Egan moving on to pursue different ventures. Daniel Ciabotti joined the firm as our new Superannuation Manager mid-way through the year. Daniel has ten years’ experience in the field and has brought with him a wealth of knowledge as well as an abundance of life experience, having lived and travelled throughout Europe for several years.

Speaking of Australian European travellers, Bourne + Weir welcomed Carissa van der Weegen to the Administration team earlier in the year after several years living in London and travelling around Europe. Carissa is a self-confessed ‘numbers nerd’ so it is only fitting that she has taken on the accounts and billing position in the firm.

We also welcomed Malina Ivan who originally hails from Romania. Malina has lived in Sydney for a good portion of her life before making the excellent choice of relocating to Melbourne a few years ago. Malina’s friendly voice (together with Carissa’s) is whom you will hear when you call the office. Malina is our general administrator go to person, so you will no doubt get to know her quite well.

The Business Services team recently welcomed in a new graduate accountant, Evelyn Trieu. Evelyn, a refreshing addition to the team has previously worked at two major banks after finishing at university and spending some time overseas. Unfortunately for Bourne + Weir but good for him, Conrad Graovac moved back home to Ballarat to work with his father after a few years of working with us. We wish him well on his new life chapter.

Perhaps the sweetest news for Bourne + Weir was the much anticipated and welcomed arrival of Matthias Jae Tran.  Tony Tran and his wife Lynnie became parents to gorgeous Matthias on 9th November and we all couldn’t be happier for them. Congratulations to the happy family.

With it looking like the Federal Election being held in May 2019 the Federal Budget has been set for early release on the2nd April.  This coincides with several tax deadlines, so we are anticipating a busy start to 2019. We will endeavour to keep you all up to date and work completed as quickly as possible, but if you haven’t already, now would be a good time to start compiling your work for the last financial year and sending it in to our office.

So as another year draws to an end, John Bourne, Tom Weir, Tony Tran and the team at Bourne + Weir would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to our new clients and a big thank you to all of our existing clients whom throughout the years have become an integral part of who Bourne + Weir are. We would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and successful New Year.
